Mission facts

–Bruce and Julie Vantine started mission trips to Trujillo in the summer of 1999.  Brad Crosswhite resumed leading these trips after they left in 2009.

–There are 4 local congregations in this area with whom we are involved.

–Our mission team performs construction projects, provides a make-shift medical clinic, and offers Bible studies as a group or as one-on-one.

–In 2011, we began a program to support approximately 25 widows with supplies and food each month.

–We began supporting one evangelist financially, Fernando Romero Munguía, in 2013, who is the preacher at the Buenos Aires church of Christ in Trujillo.

–We work closely with two other evangelists, Cándido Huete and Santiago Bonilla, who are supported financially by the Goodwood church of Christ in Baton Rouge, LA.  Both of these humble men lead and direct our annual mission trips to the country and are in charge of the widows and benevolence program (from the Honduras side).

Updates on the work

–A home was built for one of our widowed sisters in 2014, and a kitchen was built for another in 2015.  Work now continues with construction of a septic tank for the Misión del Caribe church (and Santiago’s home) as well as a septic tank for one of the widows we support.

–There were 19 reported baptisms and 14 restorations in 2014.

–See mission board for updates that we receive monthly from Cándido or ask James Taylor or Brad Crosswhite for updates or questions regarding this ongoing mission.

-Monthly reports from our evangelists will be posted here as well as e-mailed to the congregation.

What can you do to help this mission?

–You may provide funds to support the widows’ program and construction projects. Place “Honduras” or “Honduras Widows” in the memo section of your personal check.

–Help support West Main members who go on trips, either financially, or through personal prayer.
